love spending time at the interVale?
Volunteer with us! There’s plenty of opportunities to get your hands dirty through the Intervale Conservation Nursery, Gleaning & Food Access program, at the People’s Farm, and through Burlington Wildways; as well as ways to connect with our community at our Fair Share CSA and events like Summervale. All volunteers are eligible for City Market member hours.

The People's Farm – Weekly on Thursday evenings through mid June, 2026. Power the volunteer-based vegetable and flower farm while learning agricultural skills!
Conservation Nursery – Weekly on Tuesdays, Wednesday, and Friday mornings! Pot up and tend to native saplings, trees, and shrubs for restoration projects across Vermont.
Food Access – Support efforts to grow and distribute fresh produce to the community through gleaning (harvesting produce) or supporting Fair Share, our free, CSA-style, produce pick-up.
Land Stewardship – Help care for trails, remove invasive species, or support the People's Orchard (Food Forest).
On-Call Harvesting Crew – June-September. The People’s Orchard, our community food forest, seeks on-call harvest support for our fruit trees, berries, and other food bearing plants! Due to the unpredictable nature of harvesting, these crews will operate with up to a weeks notice. Please join the mailing list or reach out to duncan@intervale.org f you are interested in learning more!
Whether you can join us once or on a regular basis, your time makes a real difference!

Groups
At the Intervale Center, we provide meaningful, fun, and well-organized volunteer opportunities that allow groups to engage in their community food system in tangible ways. Your volunteer time will:
Improve food access by gleaning and distributing fresh vegetables
Keep the one-and-only Intervale maintained for free public use
Improve Vermont and Lake Champlain’s water quality by tending to native tree stock
Celebrate Vermont’s vibrant food system
Volunteer activities are led by knowledgeable, experienced program staff that orient and support each volunteer group throughout the day.
