INTERNSHIPS
Burlington Wildways – Intervale Center Summer Internship
Part Time, 12-15 hours/week | $19/hr
Intern Duties:
• Collaborate with staff at the Intervale Center, Burlington Wildways, and University of Vermont Native Plant Initiative to create and maintain healthy ecosystems in our urban natural areas
• Manage experimental plots to test the effect of native plant species diversity to mitigate the impact of non-native invasive plant species
• Remove non-native, invasive plant species and collect site-specific data
• Organize weekly volunteer workdays at the Intervale Center
• Maintain native plant experimental plots across a diversity of sites in the Burlington area
• Clean and sterilize plant growing equipment at the UVM Main Campus greenhouse
• Collect and process local, ecotypic seed with the statewide seed coordinator
• Maintain accurate records and update a seed collection guide
• Develop educational outreach materials, e.g., signage, blogs, social media posts, etc.
• Propose nature-based solutions beyond the listed duties to build on existing knowledge
