Rooted in Community

At the Intervale Center, community is at the heart of everything we do. This year, we’ve been inspired by the thousands of people who came together to celebrate Vermont's farms, land, and people through volunteering, events, and community connection.

Over the last year, more than 1,000 volunteers joined us individually and as part of over 45 volunteer groups. Together, they planted trees, cared for the land, fed our community, and strengthened the local food system we all depend on.

Maggie Chadwell has been a familiar face at the Intervale Center’s People’s Farm for the past three years. This year, she deepened her commitment by joining the Intervale Center as our Food Access Intern. Here’s a glimpse into her experience, “Working alongside staff and fellow volunteers has helped me nurture and grow my passion for farming and food access. What stands out most to me about the Intervale Center’s food access initiatives is that they address food insecurity in our community in a way that is uplifting and builds lasting connections between land, farmers, food, and people.”
