World Disco Soup Day!

  • Arts Riot 400 Pine Street Burlington, VT, 05401 United States (map)

"We are all painfully aware of the issue of food waste and food insecurity here at home and globally. There is a global effort to bring this issue to light by holding hundreds of Disco Soups across the globe April 29th and 30th. Disco Soup is a culinary and musical act of protest, and began in 2012 in Germany with the Slow Food Youth Network there. Since then, they have spread across the world as a fun, meaningful way to bring this crisis into focus with delicious impact – hundreds of millions of tons of food have been diverted from landfills, compost heaps and dumpsters right onto plates.

Slow Food Vermont is teaming up with our youth chapters at Slow Food UVM and Slow Food Green Mountain College as well as the Chittenden County Emergency Food Shelf and area chefs and farms to host what is so far the only Disco Soup in the US! Please mark your calendars to come help us chop our way to end hunger! Don’t forget to stop by the Intervale Center’s Gleaning and Food Rescue table to say hello and learn about what we are doing to fight food insecurity!"
