Have you noticed anything different about the Intervale Center recently? We’ve been working on making the Intervale more user-friendly and accessible with improvements to parking areas, trails, public spaces, and signage!

Here are a few of the exciting new projects:

Trails, Signs & Parking Areas
We are making significant improvements to our trail system! This summer, we added new paths, signage, and trail blazes to help people better orient themselves throughout our 340 acres. To encourage more walkers, skiers, runners, and explorers, we’ve also made improvements to Intervale Road parking areas with new plantings, woodchips, and fresh gravel. We invite you to come down for a walk, park in our improved lots, and enjoy lunch in the peaceful new Picnic Grove by Tommy Thompson Community Garden that volunteers from Dealer.com helped transform in one day!

New Building!
Construction is complete on a new building at our farmer complex! Jointly owned by the Intervale Center and Intervale Community Farm, the Packhouse will allow our Conservation Nursery to increase the number of trees they grow and sell by providing space for cold storage and an area to package harvested trees. It will also provide an indoor wash station and help increase production, product quality, and season extension needs for Intervale farms.

Coming Soon: Farmstead Improvements

Soon, we’ll start restoring parts of our historic farmstead! We need a new slate roof for the Calkins Farmhouse, a new foundation and doors for the Community Barn, and more. As the gateway to the rest of the Intervale and the gathering space for Summervale, weddings and community gatherings, this farmstead is a vital part of our organization and of Burlington. We’re excited for it to get a much-needed facelift!

We’re nearing the end of a $1 million capital campaign to fund these improvements. So far, we’ve raised $845,000 from generous donors and community members just like you! Interested in learning more about this campaign? Please contact Shana Trombley, Donor Relations Manager, at shana@intervale.org or 802-660-0440 x118 for more information. Or stay tuned for ways you can help! We’re so excited to create a more productive, accessible, and beautiful Intervale for our whole community to enjoy.
