Press Release: Wintervale returns February 25th, 2024

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

BURLINGTON, VT - The Intervale Center’s “Wintervale” will return after a four-year hiatus on Sunday February 25th from 11am - 2pm. Wintervale is a celebration of winter recreation and outdoor education. Wintervale is free to the community, and will take place snow, rain, or shine!

In partnership with Burlington Wildways, Burlington Parks, Recreation, and Waterfront, and the Winooski Valley Parks District, Wintervale will be a fun-filled day packed with activities. Snow permitting, there will be free cross-country ski and snowshoe rentals provided by SkiRack Burlington, Catamount Trails Association, and Burlington Parks, Recreation, and Waterfront that visitors can use on the Intervale Center’s more than 3 miles of groomed trails.

Free educational activities include: a bird identification walk led by Audubon Vermont; a tree identification walk led by Burlington Wildways; a winter wildlife tracking walk led by Vermont Fish and Wildlife; a raptor meet and greet hosted by VINS; a maple tapping demo led by Rock Point; and a handful of kids crafts and activities.

The day will also include a Community Chili-Cook off, Lake Champlain Chocolate hot chocolate served by Slow Food VT, and a bonfire to keep people warm. Food and drink will be generously donated by Skinny Pancake and Lake Champlain Chocolates.

Wintervale is made possible by our amazing sponsors: City Market, Ski Rack/Patagonia Burlington, and Natural Mattress Company. More event details can be found at https://www.intervale.org/wintervale.
