The Tenderbellies at Summervale

We are so excited to announce that the first night of Summervale is right around the corner! This Thursday July 7th from 5:30 - 8:00 PM we are kicking off the series with local food and drink, live music, and community celebration by welcoming The Tenderbellies to the stage. The Tenderbellies joined us at Summervale in 2019 and we are thrilled to have them return this season!

The band is comprised of 5 members: Luke Hausermann on upright Bass, Chris Page and David Titus on acoustic guitar, Matt Francis on Mandolin, Collin Cope on Harmonica, and Greg Pauza on Mandolin or occasionally flute. All members sing harmonies and leads but Chris and Collin are on the main vocals.

The Tenderbellies have been playing together for years and have been friends since their days at Champlain Valley Union High School. Although bluegrass is their “bread and butter”, they play a mix of originals and covers from a wide variety of music genres including traditional bluegrass, rock and roll, jazz, American folk, funk, and more. Their music is accessible to all audiences and the band prides themselves on tailoring their performance to the crowd and the atmosphere.

The Tenderbellies sound is inspired by musicians like Tony Rice, one of the bluegrass greats as well as David Grossman. Band member Greg said, “But I guess like all Vermonters, I think we’re all pretty fluent on Phish lore… so their music I think has if not directly, very much indirectly influenced us.”

Like so many other bands, the COVID-19 pandemic derailed plans for The Tenderbellies to make music. But one thing that kept them together was the fact that they are such good friends outside of the band. More recently, the Tenderbellies have been able to “mix it up” and experiment with their music again at Four Quarters Brewery in Winooski. Catch them there most Wednesday nights and look out for their untitled album coming out this fall!

After Summervale, be sure to check out The Tenderbellies at one of their upcoming shows at Four Quarters or on these dates:

  • 7/16 at The Cooler in the Mountain Music Series in Killington

  • 7/10 at Highgate Summer Sound Series in the Highgate Arena

  • 7/20 at Shelburne Farms

We hope to see you this Thursday at the Intervale Center to support this amazing local band and celebrate all our community has to offer!
