The Intervale Center as a Resource

Consulting Overview

The Intervale Center supports organizations around the world that are looking to replicate or learn from our programs. We have been a leader in the development of community food systems since 1988. Our impact on these food systems has been significant, from our work of land restoration to our support of organic farming. We established Vermont's first CSA; Vermont's first large-scale composting center; and Vermont's first bareroot tree nursery. We also help farmers develop stronger businesses and sell through innovative, collaborative marketing and distribution systems.

"The land we purchased is located in an area of high development pressure. We wanted to protect these 193 acres as the agricultural working land it had been for hundreds of years. Intervale Center staff is sharing their experience with us in every phase of development to help us create a farm incubator program for the benefit of all North Carolina citizens. We couldn't do it without them."      -Louie and Jackie Hugh, Raft Swamp Farms, Raeford, North Carolina
