Farms
Intervale Farmers
Twelve independent farms operate on land managed by the Intervale Center, some as incubator farms receiving business planning assistance and access to equipment and facilities, others as mentors to the start-up farms. Farmers meet each month to share their experiences and provide support for each other.
CSA Farm Pick-up Day
Several of the independent farms operating in the intervale are CSA’s, where members pay in advance at planting time and then pick up vegetables regularly throughout the summer. For a list of Community Supported Agriculture farms at the intervale, click here
Pick-Your-Own Berries
Adam Hausman operates a pick-your-own berry farm on Intervale Road. For a complete list of farms, click here.
Vegetable Washing Station
The Intervale Center makes a variety of equipment available to farmers, including a vegetable washing station, coolers, greenhouses, tractors, and hand tools.
Farmers Get Their Start
Jennifer and Spencer Blackwell established the Intervale Bean and Grain Company as an Incubator Farm. Through the Intervale Center they received training, mentoring, access to land and equipment and several growing seasons of farm experience. Now they have purchased their own farm in Addison County through the Farmland Access Program of the Vermont Land Trust and UVM's Center for Sustainable Agriculture.
